The York Symphony Orchestra will hold auditions for its 37th annual Concerto Competition on Saturday, Nov. 10 at First Baptist Church, 3375 Druck Valley Road in York.

Any York County resident not yet 25 years old by the day of the audition is eligible to participate on any orchestral instrument, piano or voice.

Soloists are to prepare at least an entire aria or the first unabridged movement of a standard concerto. The selection must have an orchestral accompaniment available. If performing more than one movement, the soloist must limit the performance to no more than 15 minutes.

Audition music must be performed from memory with a piano accompaniment and at a level at the time of the audition that is suitable for performance with the orchestra.

The first prize will be a cash award of $500 and an opportunity to perform with the York Symphony during the 2013-2014 Season. There will be a second prize of $300 and a third prize of $200.
