The Pennsylvania Retailers' Association honored the West York Police Department and its officers during the association's Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony in Reading on Thursday.

The department received the Best Loss Prevention Partner for 2013 for its efforts to arrest 136 people as part of a large retail theft ring operation out of the borough, according to police.

Police initially announced the arrest of 110 people, including alleged ringleader James Giuffrida, and others have since been charged, police said.

Patrolmen Dave Kahley and Sean Hightman were also praised for the combined 500 hours they put into the investigation.

The association gave department representatives a plaque, according to Kahley.
