A portion of Route 234, known locally as East Berlin Road, in Jackson Township will be closed this weekend as part of an ongoing repair and paving project.

The road will be closed between Sunset Road in Paradise Township and Shady Dell Road in Jackson Township on Saturday and Sunday, according to a news release from the state Department of Transportation.

During that time, crews will replace a large drainage pipe under the road, the release says.

PennDOT says motorists should take a detour by way of Big Mount Road, Route 30 and Biesecker Road.

The pipe replacement is part of a $3.2 million project to improve East Berlin Road between East Berlin in Adams County and West Manchester Township.

The entire project is scheduled to be completed by the end of September, PennDOT says.
