Both Messiah soccer teams are headed to the NCAA Division III Final Four.

The Messiah men earned their Final Four berth with a 3-0 victory on Sunday against Scranton, in York. That came just one day after Messiah outlasted the host Spartans on penalty kicks.

On Sunday, sophomore Brian Ramirez put the Falcons on the board in the 25th minute, a screaming strike to the right side that caromed off the post and into the goal. Classmate Mike Kovach added a goal in the 57th minute, his third goal in two days for the Falcons.

Senior Aaron Myers provided the exclamation point in the 84th minute, a near-post score after weaving through a pair of defenders on the left side of the field.

Messiah (21-0-2) now moves to the Final Four in San Antonio, Texas. It marks the 10th time in the last 12 years that Messiah will advance to the NCAA semifinals. Messiah will take on Loras (23-1-1) at noon Friday, with the winner advancing to the title match at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. The other semifinal will match Williams (16-1-4) against Ohio Northern (24-2-0).

The Messiah women, meanwhile, earned a 3-0 win vs. Johns Hopkins on Sunday in Grantham to grab their Final Four spot.

Senior Alex Brandt collected two goals and an assist on Sunday for Messiah. She assisted on a goal by freshman Nikki Elsaesser.

The Messiah women improved to 22-1-1 and advanced to their ninth-straight NCAA D-III Final Four.

Messiah will face Misericordia (20-2-2) in a semifinal at 8:30 p.m. Friday. The winner will move to the championship match at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. The other women's semifinal will pit Wheaton (21-3-2) against Emory (14-1-7). The women's Final Four will also be held in San Antonio.
