GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The nationally ranked York College women's basketball team earned a quality road win on Sunday, edging host Guilford College 55-51 in the second round of the Daly Seven Hotels Classic.

The Spartans captured the Classic format title after finishing 2-0 in the event.

The Spartans, who are ranked 19th in the ESPN/USA Today NCAA Division III Coaches Poll and 18th in the poll, improved to 3-0, while the Quakers fell to 2-1.

York Catholic High School graduate Brittany Hicks earned tournament MVP honors for the Spartans by notching her third double-double of the year with a game-high 12 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. She also had four assists and one steal in 38 minutes of work.

Fellow junior forward Kristen Haley was named to the all-tournament team with 10 points and seven rebounds for York. Haley also had two assists, two steals and a blocked shot.

Kelsey Murphy was the third Spartan in double figures with 10 points.

The Spartans now have six days off until returning to action on Sunday when they travel to Gettysburg College as a part of a men's/women's York/Gettysburg doubleheader. Tip time for the women's game is set for 1 p.m.
