SALISBURY, Md. -- The Salisbury University women's lacrosse team used a big second half to down York College 16-7 in a battle of Capital Athletic Conference unbeatens on Wednesday night.

The Sea Gulls, who are ranked No. 2 in NCAA Division III, remained perfect on the year, improving to 14-0 overall and 5-0 in the CAC. They also captured the No. 1 seed in the upcoming CAC Tournament. The Spartans, who are ranked No. 10 in NCAA Division III, fell to 11-3 overall and 4-1 in the CAC. They have clinched the No. 2 seed in the CAC Tournament and a first-round bye, despite still having one CAC contest left on the schedule.

York trailed only 8-5 at halftime before Salisbury dominated the second half, 8-2.

Kim Wayson led the Spartans with three goals, while Erica Mulford added three points on two goals and one assist. Ashley Smith made 12 saves in goal for York.

Salisbury held a substantial 37-16 edge in total shots and they doubled up the Spartans in ground balls, 14-7.

The Spartans conclude their 2013 regular season on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Wesley to face the Wolverines in a 1 p.m. contest.
