The Penn State York men's basketball team remained undefeated Wednesday night with an 81-63 victory at Penn State Brandywine.
With the win, the Yorkers improved to 10-0 overall and 5-0 in the PSUAC.
The Penn State York women's basketball team dropped a 77-65 decision at Brandywine. The York women are now 6-3 overall and 3-1 in conference action.
Men: The York men led 42-31 at intermission and outscored Brandywine, 39-32, in the second half to pick up the Lions' seventh double-digit victory of the year. Brandywine used a 22-12 run after intermission to close within 54-53 of York with 11 minutes to play, but York closed the game by outscoring its opponent 27-10.
Red Lion Christian grad Logan Steckel drained five 3-pointers to tally a game-high 21 points in York's win. Teammate Tyler Martin had 14 points off the bench and starting forward Josh Jamison collected 12 points and seven rebounds. Center Ben Todd nearly posted a double-double with 10 rebounds and eight points.
Women: The Penn State York women led for much of the first 15 minutes of action before Brandywine closed out the first half with an 18-11 run to take a 44-37 advantage into intermission. The lead then changed hands three times before Brandywine pulled out in front with 13:04 remaining. The Yorkers would keep it close the rest of the way but couldn't get back on top.
Christian School of York grads Hannah York (29 points, 11 rebounds) and Molly York (12 points, four assists) led the way for the local Lions. Teammate Courtney Riggs, a Delone Catholic grad, tallied in 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Both Penn State York men's and women's teams return home Friday for a conference doubleheader against visiting Penn State Schuylkill beginning at 6 p.m.
