The Northeastern girls' basketball team made up for a slow start by finishing strong on Monday night.

The 17th-seeded Bobcats fell behind 16th-seeded Donegal, 17-9, after one period in a District 3-AAA play-in game in Mount Joy.

Northeastern still trailed by eight at halftime, 28-20. But the Bobcats used a 15-10 third-quarter surge to draw within three points entering the final eight minutes. Northeastern then outscored Donegal 12-9 in the fourth period to force overtime. Each team scored six points in the first OT, but the Bobcats ruled the second OT, 11-6, to capture a dramatic 64-59 triumph.

Jordyn Kloster poured in 19 points to lead the winners, while Ashley Meyer added 15 and Shay Mathison contributed 14.

The Bobcats improved to 13-10, while Donegal fell to 13-9.

Northeastern will now take on another York County foe on Wednesday night in a District 3-AAA first-round contest. The Bobcats will face No. 1 seed Susquehannock (20-4) at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Glen Rock.
