ABBOTTSTOWN — Stevie Smith won a thrilling 35-lap World of Outlaws sprint-car feature at Lincoln Speedway on Wednesday evening.
Smith's victory was worth $10,000.
Smith started from the pole, led the first lap, and then trailed Jac Haudenschild until the 12th lap, when he regained the lead.
Over the last 10 laps of the event, Smith held back the challenges of Thomasville's Greg Hodnett and defending World of Outlaws champion Daryn Pittman to score the victory. It was his first victory for car owner Fred Rahmer, who retired after last season as the all-time winningest sprint-car racer in the area.
Hodnett finished second, with Pittman, Haudenschild and Paul McMahan in the top five.
Rounding out the top 10 were Donny Schatz, Brian Montieth, Red Lion's Cody Darrah, Joe Saldana and Gerard McIntyre Jr.
The Outlaws now move on to Williams Grove Speedway for a two-day show on Friday and Saturday evenings.
