The West Princess Street bridge over the Codorus Creek in York City could be replaced using the money paid to the state by natural gas drillers.

It's a county bridge, and the York County Commissioners recently voted to include it on a list of approved projects to be funded through Marcellus Shale Legacy funds.

The funds are paid by gas companies drilling in the state's shale formation and can be used for infrastructure improvements.

County engineer John Klinedinst said the county wouldn't have to contribute to the cost, and further approvals were needed before a date could be set for work to begin.
