Shrewsbury will host its annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at 6 p.m. Sunday.

Billed as an old-fashioned, traditional tree-lighting ceremony, the festivities also include the arrival of Santa Claus at 6 p.m.

All festivities take place at the intersection of South Main Street and West Railroad Avenue.

The Susquehannock High School Jazz Band will perform holiday classics, and there will be free snacks and treats provided by local Girl Scout troops. The Boy Scouts plan on having a stand with free hot chocolate and cookies, and the Rail Trail Café from New Freedom will hand out free coffee.

Anyone that wishes to come should plan on arriving by 5:45 p.m., as Mayor Peter Schnabel will flip the switch to light the tree promptly at 6.
