The Northeastern school board wants to hear from anyone interested in serving on the school board.

Last week, the board accepted the resignation of Albert Brynes.

It has 30 days from that date to fill the position and might make a nomination for the post as soon as Monday's school board meeting, according to an announcement posted on its website.

In the meantime, those with an interest in serving are encouraged to contact school board president Margie Walker at 717-266-5122.

In Northeastern, school board members are elected by region, so the new member must be from Region 3. That includes York Haven, Mount Wolf and Manchester boroughs.

The individual appointed would serve on the board through early December 2013. To hold the seat beyond that date, the person will need to run in the 2013 election.

Brynes' resignation was prompted by the district's Nov. 19 decision not to renew the contract of Superintendent Jody Nace, who has been with the district since 2003 and continues to serve in that capacity.

Walker was re-elected as president of the school board at the same Dec. 3 meeting where Brynes' resignation was acceepted. Christine Hess was selected as the board's vice president.

The board's Monday meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the district's administrative office, 41 Harding St., Manchester.
