The York Dispatch ( http://bit.ly/VzmvKY) says the York County coroner's office on Friday ruled the death of 72-year-old Clifton Thomson a homicide. The district attorney's office will now decide whether the shooting was justified.
State police earlier said officers fired several times after Thomson advanced on them Thursday morning at his Conewago Township home and would not comply with an order to put down his .30 caliber rifle.
Police said officers were called to the rural home after Thomson called a mental-health crisis hotline and told them he had a gun and was thinking about hurting himself.
