HARRISBURG, Pa.—Gov. Tom Corbett's administration has hired new lobbyists in Washington, D.C., including a firm whose partnership includes former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge.

Lobbyist registration filings with Congress report an October start date.

Ridge Policy Group and Pittsburgh-based Buchanan Ingersoll Rooney each have connections to the Corbett campaign. But administration spokesman Jay Pagni says the firms were selected because of their expertise in Pennsylvania issues, not because of political connections or support.

Ridge made a campaign appearance on Corbett's behalf earlier this week in Hershey and says he expects to help Corbett on the campaign trail in the coming year.

Buchanan Ingersoll Rooney's chairman, John Barbour, is a co-chairman of Corbett's campaign and spoke at the governor's campaign kickoff event last week in Pittsburgh.

Each firm is to be paid $120,000 a year.
