Utz Quality Foods is planning a new event designed to offer every child some free, summer fun.

The Utz Summer Bash will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, July 25, at the company's outlet store at 861 Carlisle St. in Hanover.

"Our main motivation is to give all kids a fun day, regardless of socioeconomic backgrounds. We've learned some kids don't enjoy summer, either because their parents are always busy working or their families can't afford to take vacations or go to (amusement parks)," said Haley Staub, marketing representative for Utz.

Utz has secured 14 vendors and is still looking for more. All vendors will offer something free, she said.

While the event is free to adults too, most of the features are activities for kids, Staub said.

So far, the vendors include Balloonables, Bob the Critter Guy, Hanover Guthrie Memorial Library, Hanover Police Department, Hickory Falls with their Water Wars equipment, Land of the Little Horses, local therapy dogs, the National Guard with their rock wall, Rita's Italian Ice, SPCA – Adams County, Turkey Hill and more.

"We sent out more letters to potential vendors today. We're still looking for more. We'd like to have more carnival-type games," Staub said.

Businesses interested in being a vendor at the Utz Summer Bash are asked to contact Meredith Brown at mbrown@utzsnacks.com.
