Comcast is making additions to its Internet Essentials program for York and other areas, in time for the back-to-school season.
The program will be available free of cost for six months for families who apply to the program for the first time, according to a release from the company.
After the half-year introduction, the program will be available at the regular price of $9.95 per month, plus taxes.
In addition, Comcast is starting an amnesty program to families who would otherwise qualify for Internet Essentials but have an outstanding balance with the cable and Internet company.
If the outstanding account is more than a year old but the family would otherwise be eligible for Internet Essentials, Comcast will offer amnesty for the purpose of starting the Internet Essentials program, according to the release.
Internet Essentials offers low-cost Internet and computer purchase options to families with at least one child who qualifies for the National School Lunch Program.
