York Catholic earned an important early-season victory on Thursday in its effort to repeat as the York-Adams Division III boys' soccer champion.

The Irish captured a 3-2 victory at Fairfield. The Green Knights finished third in Division III a season ago.

York Catholic is now 2-0-0 in the division, while Fairfield fell to 0-2-0.

Nicholas Batkowiak led the Irish with two goals. Brian Riley added one goal, while Zachary Ingram picked up one assist.


WEST YORK 0, RED LION 0: At Red Lion, neither team could break through for a score. Each team had 13 shots. Red Lion's Scott Rissler made 13 saves, while West York's Darian McCauley had nine saves. The JV match also ended in a 0-0 tie.

KENNARD-DALE 2, SPRING GROVE 1: At Fawn Grove, Kennard-Dale's Jonathan Cave delivered the winning goal with four minutes left in the match. Spring Grove's Chase Flickinger opened the scoring in the 18th minute, but K-D drew even on Andrew Day's goal in the 28th minute.

DOVER 5, HANOVER 1: At Dover, the Eagles pulled away in the second half by outscoring the visitors 4-1 to capture the victory. Kody Altland and Ryan Kotzman led the Eagles by each scoring two goals. Anthony Hall also added a goal for the home team.

YORK SUBURBAN 5, EASTERN 0: At Suburban, the Trojans led 2-0 at the end of the first half and went on to capture the victory. Jon Allen led the Trojans with two goals. Andrei Kin scored one goal and added one assist, while David Brubaker made seven stops in goal to record the shutout.
