It was tough night in Arlington, Va., for the York College basketball teams.

The Spartan women dropped a 53-44 decision to Marymount in a battle of two of the top teams in the Capital Athletic Conference. The York men, meanwhile, suffered a 67-44 decision to Marymount.

In the women's game, the Spartans fell two games out of first place and saw their three-game win streak snapped. The Spartans are 16-5 overall and 5-3 in the CAC. The Saints improved to 17-4 and 7-1. Marymount is tied for first place with Mary Washington. Kristen Haley led York with 17 points and six rebounds, while York Catholic High School graduate Brittany Hicks added 14 points and nine rebounds. Hicks also added three blocks and two steals. York shot just 31 percent (13-of-42) from the field, including 2-of-14 (14.3 percent) from 3-point range. York also went 16-for-27 (59.3 percent) from the free throw line and committed 20 turnovers.

In the men's game, York dropped into a last-place tie with the Saints. Both teams are now 2-6 in the CAC. The Spartans stand at 7-13 overall, while Marymount improved to 7-14. Senior Jeremy Skoloda led York with 13 points. Senior Todd Maciejewski, a Red Lion High School graduate, added a game-high nine rebounds to go along with his eight points. The Spartans are 1-4 in their last five games. During the slide, York is averaging just 50 points per game while they are allowing opponents 68.8 points per game.
