The York College women's lacrosse team beat the elements and Messiah College on Wednesday afternoon in York.

The Spartans, ranked No. 10 in NCAA Division III, notched a 10-8 win over the Falcons in non-conference play at Kinsley Field. When the game started, it was sunny and 60 degrees. By midway through the second half, a cold front barreled through York, accompanied by torrential downpours and increasing winds.

The Spartans improved to 4-1 overall while the Falcons fell to 1-4. York's Sarah Castle notched three goals and an assist. Erica Mulford added two goals and two assists while Kerri Nicolich chipped in with a goal and two assists. Jocelyn Hudson had a pair of goals, while Megan Stine contributed a goal and an assist. Ashley Smith earned the win, recording eight saves.
