I owe the Lower Windsor Township engineer an apology concerning my recent letter about the bridge over Fishing Creek. The bridge was designed by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, not the township engineer.

While Snyder Corner Road is owned and maintained by the township, PennDOT owns the bridge. It is PennDOT that is wasting time and money constructing an expensive bridge.

In July 2011 PennDOT installed a large box culvert bridge about a mile up stream where Route 624 crosses Fishing Creek. A picture of the construction appeared in The York Dispatch. The same type of bridge should have been built on Snyder Corner Road.

Residents may want to send their complaints to Gov. Tom Corbett, who will then contact Barry Schoch, the new Secretary of Transportation.
