The York College softball team opened up its spring trip hosted by Snowbird Softball on Monday with a 6-5 win over Ursinus and a 4-1 loss to Randolph at the Grand Park Complex in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The Spartans are now 1-5.

Sara Thacker paced the Spartans in the opener, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored. Hannah Hugel was 3-for-4 with a run scored. Kayleen Bell added two hits and two runs scored, while Payton Hill added two hits and two RBIs.

Freshman Morgan Levine earned her first collegiate win on mound in a complete-game, seven-inning effort. She allowed five runs, four earned, on seven hits with seven strikeouts and two walks.

Levine was credited with the loss in the second game, pitching 4Ò innings and allowing four runs, only two earned, on three hits with two strikeouts and three walks. Cory Urkuski came in for Levine in the top of the fifth. Urkuski pitched 2Ð innings, allowing no runs, hits or walks.
